People don’t get up one day and think to themselves, “Gee, let’s go see a counselor!” We just don’t. We aren’t hard-wired like that. Instead, people find themselves in a crisis. In a big, ol’ gnarly of a challenge or problem and they findthemselves in need of counsel, wisdom, and help, ASAP. And, everyone seems to know a name. Someone to send you to, and you have no idea who to choose.

I can’t tell ya’ about the other names, the other folk. All I can tell ya’ is at CCOM, the difference starts in the parking lot. You can feel God’s presence before you get outta your car. And the rest is gravy. And truly, isn’t that what you want? You want something bigger than you, bigger than your problems. And you don’t want a “something” but a “Someone”.

CCOM offers the Word of God. Truth about you, your situation, and God Himself–and how you can let Him solve whatever battle you face. And, they make sure they are keeping you depending on HIM, not them. CCOM will not be counseling you weekly for the next 20 years. That makes you dependent on a human instead of relying on the Ultimate Counselor, Teacher, and Friend- Jesus Christ. CCOM won’t leave you until they are sure and certain you are connected and walking with the One True Counselor, and then they will step back as you two slay your challenges and battles.

I first started coming to CCOM for weekly discipleship and counseling when I was laid off. Although I was attending church regularly, spending time in the Word, and praying, I still felt defeated, shaken, and confused. I knew the Lord was using losing my job to teach me something, but I still felt lost. I needed guidance, discipling, and encouragement, and thankfully, the Lord lead me to CCOM and Steve Workman. We began meeting regularly, and Steve guided me through the Word. Through the power of the Holy Spirit and the Word, Steve was able to guide me through much needed repentance and dealing with my unresolved bitterness. Steve constantly points me to the Truth, graciously exhorts me, and encourages me. God blessed and continues to bless our discipleship time together. Every time we meet, the Lord shows up, refreshes my soul, and teaches me how to better follow and love Him.

I am so thankful for the ministry that the Lord has given Steve, and I am even more thankful for how the Lord has used Steve to pour into me and build me up in the faith. God provided me with a new job. I still meet with Steve to keep a right prospective while moving forward. I give all praise, honor, and glory to Christ Jesus for the work He did at CCOM.

Walking through the doors of CCOM is like walking into peace. Since first coming to receive counseling, I have been saved and have been set free from a homosexual lifestyle. This ministry is anointed with the love of Christ, but also with the strength to break chains and tear down walls. I have heard God more clearly in the past few weeks than I have my entire life. Dr. Iris Barrett and Brother Steve invested in me and my walk with Christ. I’ve never been to a counselor like Dr. Barrett. She has provided me with a way to grow with God at a rapid rate. I never leave her office the same!

I’m forever grateful to this wonderful ministry and to God that I can experience God’s peace again.
